10 Gift Ideas Designed for Travel Lovers & Frequent Fliers

This holiday season, I wanted to compile my personal list of gift ideas for people who love to travel: products which are cool enough to be gift worthy, yet actually helpful and/or useable for someone who enjoys travelling.  These ideas are more than just gifts which could be used for travel, they were specifically designed for travel – especially for those who are jet setters and frequent fliers.

Whether you’re shopping for yourself, or gifting to someone else, here are my picks for modern yet practical ideas for travel lovers.

World Travel Book

In preparation for our round-the-world trip, I purchased Lonely Planet’s The Travel Book, a big, hardcover coffee table book with beautiful photography and interesting facts about every country in the world.  I have spent hours flipping through this book – looking up specific destinations or opening up to a random page – while being inspired by the beautiful places abroad and learning interesting cultural facts.  This is a great gift for someone who gets inspired by visually stunning photography, and wants an easy way to reference every country around the world as they plan their next trip.

World Scratch Map

For someone who is always upping their “countries I’ve visited” list, I love the idea of a world scratch map: a map of the world topped with gold foil that can be scratched off every time a new country is visited.  This travel themed home accessory makes a great wall-decor piece, and is a good visual representation for seeing where they’ve been, and, more importantly, where they want to go next.

Lightweight Packing Cubes

When I was in San Francisco, I across Flight 001, a retail boutique with practical essentials designed for streamlining travel in a modern and minimalistic way.  What caught my eye was their award-winning “Spacepak packing system”, a series of super lightweight packing cubes designed for organizing and compressing clothing into compartments that fit into luggage or a travel bag.  This would make a great gift for an orderly traveller who wants to take their packing to the next level.

In-Flight Cocktail Making Kit

Bring their next airplane ride to new heights with the Carry On Cocktail Kit.  Whether your lucky gift recipient’s drink of choice is an Old Fashioned, a Gin & Tonic, a Margarita, or a Moscow Mule, each compact tin includes everything needed to mix up a delicious cocktail while flying sky high. All that needs to be added is the liquor, which should readily be available on any flight. Travel Gift Idea Carry On Cocktail Kit

Compact Travel Kit

From my hometown of Vancouver, Canada, Aria specializes in modern travel kits filled with all the essentials to “bring comfort on board“.  Their Aria Travel Kit includes: a silk-filled-with-silk sleeping eye mask, fluffy microfibre socks, handmade lipbalm with essential oils, alcohol-free makeup remover wipes, a biodegradeable bamboo toothbrush and all-natural deodorant.  It’s a stylish gift idea, especially for solo female travellers!

Travel Wallet

This slim travel wallet from Indigo was made for the chic jetsetter.  The inside of this minimalistic wallet has four compartments labeled especially for documents: passport, luggage tickets, boarding pass, and cash.

Vintage-Inspired Luggage Tag

Inspired by vintage baggage claim tags, these luggage tags by Smitten Kitten are a great way to identify luggage.  There’s room on the back to write in contact details in case your luggage gets lost.  Each tag comes with a faux-leather strap with gold tone buckle.  If your gift recipient is from Canada, a major US or international city, you should have no problem finding a design to match their hometown.

Natural First Aid Kit

First aid doesn’t have to be boring.  Saje Wellness has an all-natural first aid kit with natural remedies for stress, tension, aches, and other minor discomforts associated with long flights while travelling. These four mini products are packages in a stylish and gift-worthy copper tin which can be reused to hold jewelry, bobby pins, coins, and other knick-knacks while travelling.

Travel Pillow

I keep losing my neck pillows while travelling!  I was annoyed at having to spend $20+ everytime I was at the airport, so I started looking for better value alternatives.  I found one at MINISO for $3.99.  It comes in plain colours or patterned styles, like this cute polar bear print.  There’s a buttoned loop attached to the pillow for attaching to a backpack or luggage.  This is a very cute, affordable, and practical gift idea for someone who likes travelling comfortably.

Tea to Combat Jetlag

Tealeaves has a Jetlag Therapy Kit  which would make a great stocking stuffer or present topper.  Stay awake with one teabag of Energy and fall asleep with one teabag of Relax.  For those staying in town for a while, full sized boxes of these teas are also available.

  1. I want to buy it all! haha. I’ve been curious to try travel cubes because I’m a super disorganized packer. I also hate packing so maybe it would make it a little more pleasant haha

  2. SUCH great gift ideas! I actually just purchased that scratch map for my brother and his gf since they are the big travelers in the family. Thanks so much for sharing… a lot of great suggestions on here 🙂
