Steve and I just got back from our 10-day London and Ibiza vacation last month and it’s weird to think that in less than three months, the next international flight we take, will be the BIG one, where we leave behind all our things and carry with us only a backpack to travel the world.
This 10-day vacation was just a blip in our timeline. Everything was so rushed, we spent more time shuffling around from place to place and recovering from late nights and timezone changes, than actually relaxing in one city.
Reflecting back on London, we spent so freely! The trendy restaurants we ate at in London easily cost us $50 CAD per person. London is not cheap. Neither is Ibiza. I’m glad we checked these two destinations off our list while we were still working.
After our London/Ibiza vacation, I think Steve has warmed up even more to the idea for quitting our jobs to travel the world. While we were in London, his cousin gave him tips and advice on travel destinations, especially in Eastern Europe.
My coworkers decorated my desk when I got back, my team is who I will miss the most when I leave my job. (In fact, by the time I publish this post, I would have already worked my last day). Steve did not get his desk decorated – but he did have 600 unread emails to read through. Just reading this, doesn’t it make you want to go away?
Our current target departure date is February 1, 2018. ‘Til then, we have a long road ahead of us with an enormous task list including: booking our initial flights, moving our belongings into storage, renting out our apartments, getting our travel shots and prescriptions, getting our getting our finances in order, arranging for someone to look after my dog Teddy Bear, and, of course, transitioning my blogging from Modern Mix Vancouver to Modern Mix Travel.
